Trail Maintenance Day – June 30

May 31, 2024 | Events, Trail Maintenance

GVORBA will be holding another trail maintenance day in the Greenbrier State Forest on Sunday June 30th from 12 pm-3pm. We will meet at the Picnic Shelters as shown in the map below. We will be focusing on current trail upkeep and clean up. In addition to the recent storm damage, many of the trails have quickly become overgrown and are in need of some easy trimming to make navigating a bit easier. Of course we will plan on riding once the work is done so bring a bike!
As with previous trail maintenance days here are a few reminders:

1. The Greenbrier State Forest requires volunteers working in the forest to complete volunteer forms. We will have those available for all volunteers to complete.

2. Equipment to bring if you are able: hard rakes, pruners, hand saws and weed eaters.

3. This is not a NICA-sanctioned event. This trail work day is intended for adult members of GVORBA or any adult wishing to help improve our local trails. High-school-age youth may participate, but this work will not be appropriate for younger kids.

4. Bring plenty of water to drink. We also recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves and gloves given the materials and foliage we will be working in.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me Mike T (), directly or call/text at 843 737 1199.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone in the State Forest.
