White Sulphur Springs Bike Park & Pump Track

Location: White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia

In 2021, the city of White Sulphur Springs, under the direction of future GVORBA board members, received a technical assistance grant from the West Virginia Community Development Hub Communities of Achievement program for the design of a community bike park with accompanying construction plans suitable for permitting and bidding construction. Nature Trails, a professional trail design and construction firm in North Carolina, won the bid and delivered a design in 2022 replete with pump track, progressive jump lines, skill development features, and unique elements that honor the historic use of the land in the Greenbrier Valley. In 2023, GVORBA members collaborated with the City of White Sulphur Springs, Region 4 Planning and Development Council and WVU’s Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative to garner a $2.6 mil. earmark in the DHHR line of the 2024 state budget. Pending passage of the budget, construction on the largest bike park in the state will begin as early as late 2024.
